Carpal Tunnel Release Scar Management

Carpal Tunnel Release Rehabilitation

Scar management after a carpal tunnel release is pertinent to promoting great outcomes. A dense scar can lead to hypersensitivity, difficulty weight-bearing, and adhesions that may make it hard to make a fist or result in more pain than normal. Instrument-assisted soft tissue massage can help flatten the scar tissue to help promote a more healthy-looking scar. Using silicone, tape, or elastomer can also help with laying scar tissue at night as silicone and mechanical pressure in combination have proven helpful in managing scar thickness. Our carpal tunnel tool kit includes all these tools, education, and guided rehab from a certified hand therapist.
